In Conversation With Dr.Emily Rickman

Dr. Emily Rickman is a Science Operations Scientist for the European Space Agency (ESA) at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), which is a NASA-funded institute that leads the operation of the Hubble Space Telescope and the James Webb Space telescope. Emily's research primarily focuses on discovering exoplanets, which are planets around other stars, using a technique called direct imaging that requires the use of extremely large telescopes, much like the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Emily is also the author and co-author of several publications at NASA's ADS and ResearchGate. Emily holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. In addition, she also graduated with a first class Masters degree with honors in Physics and Astrophysics from the University of Sheffield. From experiencing self-doubt to being a role model to the youth, Emily's journey can inspire many of us who want to pursue our passion but are unsure about it.
