Six Ways How Killing Inferiority Complex Can Save Your Life

The feeling of inferiority is one plague no one should live with. It is erosive and draws from your negative vibes. You feel flawed and discontented with your life and everything around you. The inferiority complex sucks the life out of you, and your negative self-image feeds it.

The feeling of inferiority can be anything, be it the looks, hair, nose, or the general physique. And materialistic greed can as well, make you feel inferior – Why does he earn more than I do? Or how is she more intelligent, got a great memory, more athletic, more successful, etc. the list is endless. We hold ourselves so low that the list of inadequacies is long and never-ending. We ultimately get into the habit of self-depreciation.

Well, the question comes is not to only realize it but also to know what we can do about it. Should we waste our life over this?

How to overcome the inferiority complex?

1. Find Out Why

Do you need to find out why do you feel like this? There can be numerous reasons for it-

  • Parental pressure: when you feel pressurized by your parents to do something you do not want and the nagging you face when you are not able to perform. The comparisons are also drawn due to which the inferiority takes a stronghold and pulls you down.
  • Peer pressure: Sometimes, the constant pressure of your colleagues can send you on a downward spiral. Trying to find out how a fellow worker is able to outperform, you will make you concentrate on your work a lot less.

2. Focus On the Positives

Count your blessings; make a list of your attributes. This exercise will help you focus more on the positives that you have! Do not compare, through comparison out of the window. Focus on what you can do and work on that. Achieve your goals. People in your life, your family, and friends accept you for whom you are. Their love and care will help you remain positive.

3. Fast forward to 50 years

Train your mind to look at yourself and your achievements, say 50 years down the lane. The body is no longer the same, the work is gone, and you have achieved the best you can. You would find that your feeling of inadequacy does not matter anymore. All those factors that made you think less of yourself are not at play anymore. Apparently, you would just take it easy, be grateful, and enjoy each day as it comes.

4. Change your Attitude

In order to get rid of your inferiority, you need to revamp your attitude. Think positive and act so. Your perception plays a pivotal role in shaping up your outlook. Change the way you see yourself in the mirror. Look for your own success rather than someone else’s.

Stop following what others want in their lives and ask yourselves if you really desire it. Stop saying yes to everything that others feel is important in life. Be you and not what others want you to be.

5. Embrace Self-Love

‘You’ should come first.

First, love yourself, then you can look anyplace else. Do those things that will make you happy. Stop looking into someone else. Focus on the inner you and not someone else’s opinion. This way, you will find that you already have everything you need to lead a happy, successful life.

6. Stay Out Of Toxic People & Seek Positive Company

Our brain tends to get influenced very easily, and hence it is very important to surround yourselves with positive people and thoughts. If you had optimistic people around you, life would not be challenging.

When surrounded by non-toxic people, life becomes a joy ride. Even the darkness gives hope that it will be dawn very soon. You would feel the vibrations change. Eradicate all the toxins from your body and life.

Concluding Thoughts,

With age, things become less and less important. What matters to us now would not matter then. Ignore, overlook, and forget these weird feelings. I know it becomes hard sometimes to overlook all this. But it is worth saving your life.

Meanwhile, you also learn the list of people who matter the most, who do not judge you based on these inadequacies or imperfections. They are never mean or rude to you; rather, they find it hard to notice these faults. Surround yourself with such people who love the way you are. And let the love flow.
