Have you had one of those days when you did not want to get out of the bed? Lie in and refuse to work? Well, it happens to most of us at some point in our adult life. How is it that kids do not get bored? How are they always busy doing something, if not something old, then something new?
Nowadays it is getting more and more common to hear the phrase – “I am Bored”. Actually this phrase is just synonymous with a lack of excitement and procrastination. Sometimes boredom is closely associated with just being ‘lazy’.
I was under such a phase where I would like to get through my day and not have anything to look forward to.
In other words, I was bored. I was lethargic, was putting off important work and engagements. No, I was not depressed but I had no goal in life. I felt my actions don’t have any meaning.
Whether you are a professional or a homemaker, at some point of time would go through this aspect. You would have to ask yourself – Why am I bored?
Here are the reasons why are you bored in life. Then probably its time to fix it!
1. You are bored because of stress
Life is stressful, no doubt about that. You let the situation take control, which leads to a lot of stress and frustration. You feel let down and tired of life. At the end of the day, this stress may lead to disengagement and thus making you feel bored and less connected with your life activities.
2. Lack of clear expectation
When you do not have a clue as to what you need to do in your life. When you do not have an aim in life, you just go with the flow and fall into the trap of boredom.
3. You lose your will to work hard towards a goal
Stress and lack of proper goals lead to less productivity.
Sadly, boredom is not uncommon. Rather it gives rise to errors and decreased productivity. Sometimes it leads to unnecessary outcomes for everyone and may prove to be a bit costly too.
So friends, in order to overcome boredom and channelize your efforts into something productive, you need to work with the following. Embrace the below points to avoid being bored and be more productive.
1. Self Motivation
Pep talk your way into doing things. Will yourself to work a bit harder. Motivate yourself! Grab a partner and motivate each other.
Surround yourself with people with positive energy who are very active and influencing in life. Let your innovation flow and you would come out of ‘boredom’ in no time.
Let the energy flow, don’t hold back. The sense to achieve something must come from within, in order to be more productive.
Challenge yourself! Let the competition be with your own self. You will surely notice a great change.
3. Draw clear goals
To start with, make small goals and deadlines. Something that you know you can achieve with little effort.
Make sure these challenges should make you work for it. Take each step, but with proper calculation. Leave no room for errors. It is found, when one is not aware of his/her goals, he/she simply drift and not act.
4. Be more flexible
Be optimistic and be willing. Be prepared for any challenges or be open to changes. Broaden your horizon and be willing to work in a given situation.
You have it in yourself to turn boredom into productivity. Let boredom not kill it, be engaged always.
There are some people who feel that boredom actually does not lead to less productivity. In fact it leads to more creative work. When the mind is blank, you can paint it however you like. Creative juices flow well and the mind can find the path freely.
Some people believe that boredom gives birth to higher productivity if given the right kind of stimulus. I found my way out of boredom; I let my creative juices flow. So keep channelizing and challenging yourself. You will turn your boredom into your productive best.
