Healthy And Tasty Seasonal Winter Fruits That You Must Try

The winter season for most of us is all about hot tea or coffee. On those days when the Sun was shining brightly, we would sit outside and have smoothies. Those days of leisure are gone, and we have become more aware of our mind and body and what it needs. But there are other fruits available in this cold season that are not only yummy but have great health benefits too.

Here are the healthy seasonal winter fruits that you must take advantage of during this season.

1. Look like an orange but sound like a grape: Grape Fruit

Grapefruit is a perfect start to your day. It has a great many properties like any other citrus fruit. But what sets it apart is the content.

Grapefruit works wonder for your immune system. It has 80% of the daily requirement of Vitamin C. It also has Vitamin A along with fiber. The fruit is low in calories, thus making it a perfect start for all those who are looking to maintain or lose weight.

It keeps a heart-healthy and is great for digestion and hydrating your body. One of the best things about the Grapefruit is that it fights the free radicals, thus preventing cancer.

Have half a Grapefruit in the morning with your breakfast, and you would feel rejuvenated the entire day.

2. Sweet berries: Cranberries

Those small berries are usually used as a garnish, but cranberries have health benefits that can’t be ignored.

As compared to dried up cranberries, these have only 4g of sugar per cup. They help fight diabetes and lower bad cholesterol.

Consuming cranberries help in maintaining healthy eyesight and clear skin. It prevents UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). It prevents platelet buildup and slows down tumor progression.

Cranberries were earlier used for making cloth dye, but it is amazing to know that cranberries can actually help in maintaining oral health. Cranberry juice does not provide such health benefits, and it is better to consume it raw.

3. Dates

A date is a powerhouse packed into one tiny fruit. It has lots of fiber and is rich in Vitamin A. Eating a date every day improves your eyesight. It relieves constipation and fights abdominal cancer.

Dates help in increasing hemoglobin and thus help anemic patients.

It is believed that after a fast if you eat a date, you would not overeat. All those who are looking to increase weight must have dates to do so.

4. I am not a bird. I am a fruit: Kiwi

Do you know that a Kiwi has more potassium than a Banana? A kiwi manages your blood pressure and keeps the electrolytes balanced. Kiwi is a nutritional powerhouse. It tastes a bit sour, but it is full of Vitamin C that boosts your immune system.

The fruit is rich in antioxidants that keep your blood clean. The calming effects of Kiwi help sleep well and is a great source of dietary fiber. Kiwi works wonders for the skin, making it supple and clear of blemishes. The fruit is essential during the recovery from Dengue.

5. Lemon

Like all the citrus fruits, lemon is rich in Vitamin C. Consuming a Lemon keeps the blood vessels healthy with healthy gums and clear skin. Since it helps in cutting oil, lemon is great for clear skin and weight loss.

Lemon aids digestion and keeps the breath fresh. Due to its citrus nature, lemon prevents kidney stones. Squeeze lemon on your salad or have it in warm water or your green tea. It is known to fight common cold and Flu.
